Easy steps to Chinese for none-Chinese background teenagers (11-17 yrs) This course is designed for non-Chinese background students at both primary and secondary school students who are taking Chinese exams, such as SAT II/AP (U.S.A.), IB Chinese Language B, or for those students who are starting to learn Chinese on their own. The primary goal of this course is to help the learners establish a solid foundation of vocabulary, know­ledge of Chinese and communication skills through the natural and gradual integration of language, content and cultural elements. This series course adopt a holistic approach, and is designed to empha­size the development of communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The features of this series course: • Task-based learning • A wide variety of texts • Practical tasks and activities • Up-to-date topics relevant to young people • Careful pacing for gradual progress • Clearly focused aims • Regular consolidation • Both simplified and traditional script in the vocabulary list • A fun and effective approach • Attractive page designs It has 4 levels: Level 1A—Book 1 1B—Book 2 Level 2A—Book 3 2B—Book 4 Level 3A—Book 5 3B—Book 6 Level 4A-- Book 7 4B- Book8 After completing these levels, the learners will acquire a vocabulary of approximately 1,600 Chinese characters, and develop confidence in using Chinese to communicate either orally or in written forms. Level 2 (2A+2B) The learners also will learn: • Radicals and simple characters • Formation of phrases • Expansion of vocabulary • Simple grammar and sentence structures • Dictionary skills & typing skills • Classroom instruction in Chinese • Skills: guided written assignments between 100-200 characters • Exposure to modern China and Chinese culture Level 2 A (Books 3) - 20 Classes Topics: • Relatives • Appearance • Seeing a Doctor • Seasons 2 • Occupations 2 • Hobbies 2 • Market, snacks and eating out 2 • Asking the way and community Level 2 B (Books 4) - 20 Classes Topics: • Appearance • Occupations 3 • Personality • Daily Routine • Household Chores • Pets • Schools Events • Food & festivals • Neighborhood 3, traveling and accident Total 40 Classes x $20 = $800 L 2A (20 classes ) - L 2B (20 classes)
